“ENUMA ELISH”

The work represents a solar disk with 12 zodiacal constellations. It is a circular map of the sky. Sewn onto the fabric, twelve different colored cotton ribbons stand out against a black background, a symbol of the space-time dimension.
The Babylonians were the first to use the zodiac system in a scientific way to classify the duration of one year in 12 months. Their solar calendar dates back to 2500 years ago.
Enuma Elish, from which the title is inspired, is an ancient Babylonian poem that tells the creation of the world by the god Marduk. The sculpture intends to trace chromatically a story of the solar system by binding to the roots of this science and its current evolution.
